A world first exhibition of the latest technology designed by NZ entrepreneurial company, Ezy Flo Trailers (NZ) Ltd will significantly impact on the way horses are transported globally with the introduction of a new range of Ground Loading Horse Floats™.

The new Ground Loading Horse Float™ product range allows a horse to be loaded and unloaded onto a trailer at ground level, eliminating the need to use ramps as per conventional horse floats and horse transporter trucks. The concept of ground loading trailers was not new to inventor Bill Groves, but extensive feedback from horse stud breeders, show jumping competitors, and horse owners confirmed that ‘Floating’ stock was one of their biggest concerns in regards to stress and safety issues, hence, Bill looked to designing the Ground Loading Horse Float™ as a safer solution driven design.

‘It simply is an easier, quicker, and safer way to load’ says Mike Gibbons, company CEO. International research suggested that horses travel with less stress when they can face backwards in a float, however, that means training a horse to back into a float and that is not a natural thing that a horse will want to do according to the research. With front door access, you can load from the front and walk out the rear or the other way around. To be able to walk a horse on and off a trailer at ground level enables you to load a horse with less stress on you and the horse.

The Ground Loading Horse Float™ has a wireless remote control for ease of operation, hydraulic ram suspension for smoother transporting, and will carry 2 to 4 horse’s dependant on the different models that range from 3.2 to 5 metres in length. All models have a standard 7-pin plug that connects to the towing vehicle for charging the battery and operating the trailer lights.

The 101st Rotorua A&P Show was a natural choice to launch the new product range because the show always attracted strong equestrian and farming audiences that would appreciate the simplicity and safety of the ground breaking transport solution.
